Job Description

This opportunity is for a Special Education Teacher to support a juvenile justice program in a resource room setting within a high school environment. The role offers flexibility in scheduling, with options for full-time or part-time hours, and is available from ASAP through mid-January. This contract assignment focuses on delivering specialized educational services to high school students requiring individualized support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction and support tailored to students with special education needs in a juvenile justice program
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with state regulations and best practices
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address the unique academic and behavioral needs of students
  • Manage a caseload comprising high school-aged students within the resource room
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of student progress and compliance with MI SPED requirements

Qualifications:

  • Valid Michigan Special Education (SPED) teaching license
  • Experience working with high school students in special education settings preferred
  • Ability to manage and support a caseload within a juvenile justice educational environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with students, families, and staff
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive educational atmosphere
