Step into an impactful opportunity supporting high school students academic growth in a dedicated educational setting. This contract role focuses on teaching students in Special Education, with a carefully managed caseload of 14-20 pupils. Youll collaborate with other educators across four co-taught classes (including English and Algebra/Geometry), facilitate two direct math classes, lead a study hall, and benefit from scheduled preparation time. The assignment is conveniently concentrated in a single school, allowing you to build meaningful connections with students and staff throughout the year.
Qualifications:
- Current Illinois Special Education (SPED) teaching license required
- Experience or strong interest in working with high school students
- Proficiency in delivering or supporting instruction across English and mathematics
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
- Effective collaboration skills with general educators and support staff
Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instructional support in inclusion and direct-teaching settings
- Adapt lesson plans to meet students individual needs and learning styles
- Collaborate with co-teachers to provide differentiated instruction in English and Algebra/Geometry
- Maintain thorough records and contribute to IEP development and implementation
- Supervise and support students during study hall
- Engage in ongoing communication with families and interdisciplinary teams
- Participate in school-specific onboarding, including required fingerprinting and compliance steps
This position begins August 14, 2026 and continues through May 28, 2027, offering a structured schedule of 37.5 hours per week during the school year. Interviewing will be conducted one-on-one, ensuring you have the opportunity to discuss your experience and vision for student success.
