Job Description

This opportunity is for a Special Education Teacher position based onsite at an elementary school in Chicago, IL. The role focuses on delivering targeted instruction and support to students with disabilities, primarily through the development and implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to meet the unique needs of each student with disabilities.
  • Collaborate with parents, school administrators, general education teachers, and specialists to create and periodically review IEPs.
  • Ensure accommodations and modifications outlined in IEPs are effectively implemented in the classroom.
  • Deliver direct instruction using differentiated teaching methods and materials suited to diverse learning needs.
  • Modify and adapt the general education curriculum to ensure accessibility for students with various disabilities.
  • Utilize instructional strategies like visual aids, hands-on learning, and assistive technology to support student engagement and comprehension.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable special education laws and school policies.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active Illinois LBS1 license is required.
  • Proven experience in special education instruction at the elementary level.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with families and educational teams.
  • Ability to adapt curriculum and employ various teaching techniques to accommodate diverse learners.

Schedule and Location:

  • Full-time, contract position for the current school year.
  • Hours: 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM daily.
  • Onsite position located in Chicago, Illinois.
