Job Description

A Special Education Teacher position is available for an elementary-level assignment in Prospect Heights, IL. This contract role offers a unique opportunity to work with a self-contained Life Skills classroom, serving Kindergarten and 1st-grade students. The position is scheduled for 35 hours per week, from 7:55 AM to 2:55 PM, beginning ASAP through June 6, 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to students in a Life Skills classroom.
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs in a self-contained setting.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, parents, and support personnel to promote student success and inclusion.
  • Utilize assessments to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate regularly with families and administrative staff.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement.
  • Experience teaching in a self-contained Life Skills classroom at the elementary level.
  • Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to foster a supportive and structured learning environment.
