You will contribute your expertise to programs serving students with developmental delays and mild intellectual disabilities. Collaboration is a key focus, working alongside a classroom paraprofessional, meeting regularly with program directors, and partnering closely with general education teachers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possess an active South Carolina Teaching Certificate, including a multi-categorical endorsement.
- Prior experience in special education, particularly with developmentally delayed and/or mildly intellectually disabled populations.
- Strong skills in managing and de-escalating behaviors in a classroom environment.
- Familiarity with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including planning and execution of ED plans.
- Comfortable collaborating with other educators in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
- Adaptability for working with evolving program details and classroom needs.
What You'll Do:
- Teach and nurture a class of 10 students (grades 35) alongside an in-room paraprofessional.
- Implement and monitor individualized education plans, participating in regular program director meetings.
- Collaboratively support general education integration through PLC meetings.
- Promote a positive, productive classroom by applying effective behavior management and de-escalation techniques.
- Remain flexible, supporting additional special education classes or evolving school priorities as needed.
