A K-12 special education teaching opportunity is available for the current school year in a Vermont school district serving students in grades 6-12. This contract position offers a full-time, 37.5-hour workweek and immediate start, extending through the remainder of the school year.
The role primarily involves working as a special education teacher for middle and high school students, supporting diverse learners with individualized education plans. One position specifically focuses on middle school students at the local middle-high school campus, while a secondary opening includes a hybrid case manager role working with elementary students. The district is supportive of candidates and willing to assist with obtaining provisional Vermont special education licensure if necessary.
Key qualifications and experience include:
- Valid Vermont Special Education licensure or eligibility for provisional licensure
- Experience working with K-12 students in special education settings
- Ability to design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with school staff and families
- Flexibility to accommodate a hybrid case management role (for the elementary caseload) or a traditional special education classroom setting
- Commitment to providing supportive, inclusive learning environments for students with diverse needs
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to individual student goals
- Manage and document student progress in compliance with state and federal guidelines
- Collaborate with school personnel, parents, and related service providers
- Participate in team meetings and provide ongoing support for student success
Location: Wilmington, Vermont
This contract is supported through a streamlined remote interview via Zoom with the special education director, with the district prepared to expedite hiring decisions as early as possible. Fingerprint clearance and contract signing will be required prior to starting.
