Job Description

Step into a rewarding role supporting 4th and 5th grade students as a Special Education Teacher for the upcoming academic year. This contract opportunity begins August 17, 2026, and extends through May 27, 2027, with the possibility of emergency days through June 7. Located near Aurora, IL, the assignment is split between two welcoming schools and offers full-time hours from 8:05 AM to 3:25 PM, including a 30-minute duty-free lunch and dedicated planning period each day.

Your classroom will include the support of a paraprofessional and a caseload of about 12 students. Youll serve as both teacher and case manager, making a measurable impact through targeted instruction, academic interventions, and comprehensive IEP management.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education Teacher certification (Illinois)
  • Demonstrated success with foundational literacy and numeracy instruction
  • Experience developing and delivering effective academic interventions
  • Proven ability to manage IEPs and collaborate with educational teams
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Experience with elementary-age learners (grades 45) preferred

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide engaging, differentiated instruction to meet IEP goals
  • Develop and implement individualized lesson plans supporting literacy and numeracy
  • Manage IEP documentation, meetings, and progress monitoring
  • Collaborate closely with your classroom paraprofessional
  • Communicate regularly with families and multidisciplinary staff
  • Adapt strategies to promote academic, behavioral, and social success
