Job Description
Step into a rewarding role supporting elementary-aged students in a self-contained special education environment. This contract opportunity invites an experienced professional to lead a classroom of 7-8 students in 4th and 5th grade, utilizing evidence-based practices and specialized curriculum. The position is full-time at 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with a daily schedule that includes a dedicated 30-minute lunch break. The assignment is scheduled to begin August 17, 2026, and will conclude on May 28, 2027, aligning with the academic calendar.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid LBSI (Learning Behavior Specialist I) certification required
- Demonstrated expertise in self-contained instruction for elementary students
- Familiarity with Unique or STAR curriculum highly preferred
- Prior success with individualized education programs and modified instruction
- Strong organizational skills, patience, and effective communication abilities
- Team-oriented mindset, with readiness to collaborate in a building fully dedicated to self-contained elementary programming
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, individualized instruction to students with diverse learning needs
- Adapt lesson plans utilizing Unique, STAR, or other approved curriculum frameworks
- Maintain classroom management and a supportive, inclusive environment
- Develop, implement, and document student progress toward IEP goals
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including related service providers and support staff
- Participate in all required meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities, including new teacher orientation if onboarded by August 5-11
