Job Description
A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available at an elementary school in Arlington Heights, IL, specializing in working with 4th and 5th-grade students within a resource classroom setting. This contract role is onsite, providing an excellent opportunity to engage directly with students while delivering tailored educational support in a dynamic school environment. The position offers a 35 to 37.5-hour workweek during the current school year (CSY).
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students in the resource classroom
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to support student learning and development
- Monitor and assess student progress, adapting instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Manage classroom behavior and create a supportive, inclusive learning environment
- Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with school and state guidelines
Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Special Education License (IL Sp. Ed. License)
- Professional Educator License (PEL)
- Experience working with elementary students in special education settings, preferably with 4th and 5th-grade resource classrooms
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work onsite full-time and manage a diverse caseload effectively
