Make a meaningful impact in the lives of preschool children by supporting their cognitive, social, emotional, communicative, and physical development. This contract opportunity is for an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher at a center-based program serving children ages 3-5. You'll provide intervention services within daily routines, using play and small group instruction to create a nurturing, supportive environment that lays the groundwork for future success.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Early Childhood Special Education license (required)
- Prior experience working with young children with disabilities, preferably in an educational setting
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based strategies for early childhood special education
- Familiarity with developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with families, staff, and service providers
- Ability to offer guidance to paraprofessionals and implement positive behavioral interventions
Key Responsibilities:
- Create, monitor, and adjust IEPs while tracking progress and communicating outcomes
- Use a play-based approach to foster growth in smaller class settings with intensive support
- Conduct assessments and observations to inform eligibility, instructional practices, and goal-setting
- Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team and families to support individualized learning
- Model and teach positive behavior supports and social-emotional learning strategies
- Mentor and support paraprofessionals, ensuring best practices are used daily
- Manage classroom routines to maximize student engagement and development
Scheduling Details:
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 am 4:00 pm
- Morning class: 9:30 am 12:00 pm
- Afternoon class: 1:00 pm 3:30 pm
- Position located at Centerview Elementary
