Job Description

A center-based behavior program within a middle school setting in Anoka, MN is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support students with intensive behavioral needs. This contract role serves students primarily in grades 2 through 5, with potential inclusion of kindergarten through 5th grade as new students enroll. The program emphasizes re-integration into general education environments, fostering individualized growth and academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of approximately 10 students with diverse disabilities including Emotional/Behavioral Disorders (EBD), Other Health Disabilities (OHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Visual Impairments.
  • Deliver specialized instruction within a center-based classroom designed to provide behavioral support.
  • Collaborate with 7 educational assistants to maintain a high staff-to-student ratio and optimize student engagement.
  • Facilitate student re-integration into mainstream classes alongside targeted in-class support.
  • Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each students unique needs and progress.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education.
  • Valid Minnesota State Special Education teaching license.
  • Experience working with students exhibiting behavioral challenges and multiple disabilities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with multidisciplinary staff and support personnel.

  • Anoka, Minnesota, Middle School setting.
