Job Description

Overview:

Were seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher/Director to support K12 students and provide leadership within a collaborative educational environment. This role combines direct instructional support with team oversight, helping ensure high-quality special education services that empower students and strengthen school-wide programming.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide specialized instruction and support for K12 students.
Supervise paraprofessionals, volunteers, and student teachers.
Monitor and evaluate student progress and coordinate with specialists as needed.
Maintain accurate records in accordance with legal and administrative guidelines.
Participate in faculty meetings, collaborative planning, and school functions.
Maintain availability for student and parent communication.
Assist with selecting instructional materials and classroom resources.
Administer standardized assessments and interpret results to identify student needs.
Oversee assignments and evaluations for instructional support staff.
Assist with general school duties such as hallway supervision, cafeteria monitoring, and student transitions.
Perform additional duties as assigned by administration.

Requirements:

Valid Michigan Special Education Teaching Certification Cognitive Impairments (K12).
Experience working with K12 special education populations preferred.
Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
Ability to support both instructional and administrative functions.
