Job Description

A K-12 special education teaching position is available for a Braille and Production Materials Specialist in Salem, OR. This full-time, onsite role focuses on supporting students with visual impairments by developing and producing accessible instructional materials, including Braille. The contract spans the current school year and serves a caseload across all K-12 grade levels within a single school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce and provide Braille and other tactile learning materials to support individualized education plans.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers and staff to adapt curriculum and instructional content.
  • Maintain and manage Braille production equipment and resources.
  • Assist in assessments and offer expertise on accessible materials for students with visual impairments.
  • Ensure compliance with district and state regulations regarding accessible educational content.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certification or experience in special education, specifically working with students with visual impairments.
  • Proficiency in Braille transcription and production techniques.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Experience collaborating with K-12 educators and supporting diverse student needs.
