Job Description

This full-time, onsite social work position is available within a school district in Portage, MI, offering a W-2 contract arrangement. The role is district-wide and open to travelers, providing a dynamic environment to impact students social-emotional well-being and academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct social-emotional and behavioral support to students both individually and in small groups.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments identifying social, emotional, and environmental factors affecting learning.
  • Develop and implement behavior intervention plans collaboratively with staff and families.
  • Support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) by providing aligned social work services.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to contribute to eligibility determinations and service recommendations.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, counselors, and support staff to foster a positive school climate.
  • Provide crisis intervention, restorative practices, and conflict resolution assistance as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
  • Full or Temporary Approval as a School Social Worker in Michigan.
  • Strong knowledge of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), trauma-informed practices, and social-emotional learning strategies.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Successful completion of background check and drug screening.
