Job Description

A school-based mental health professional is sought to provide comprehensive therapeutic support within a high school setting in Oakland, CA. This role is ideal for a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) or Social Worker with experience in educational environments, committed to fostering student well-being and success over the course of the current school year (CSY) on a contract basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individual and group counseling services tailored to adolescent developmental and mental health needs.
  • Collaborate with educators, administrators, and families to develop and implement effective intervention plans.
  • Conduct assessments and maintain confidential documentation of client progress.
  • Facilitate crisis intervention and provide referrals to additional community resources when necessary.
  • Promote a supportive and inclusive school atmosphere that addresses social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) or Social Worker with credentials applicable to school settings.
  • Experience working with high school students, preferably within a public school system.
  • Strong knowledge of adolescent development, family dynamics, and school-based therapeutic practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with diverse student populations and school staff.
  • Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to multidisciplinary teams.
