Job Description

A school social worker opportunity is available in Flint, MI, serving K-12 students in a dynamic educational environment. This contract position spans the current school year and involves providing vital support to students, families, and school staff to promote social-emotional development and address barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to identify student needs related to social, emotional, and environmental factors.
  • Develop and implement intervention plans tailored to individual students or groups.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to support student success.
  • Facilitate counseling sessions and provide crisis intervention when necessary.
  • Connect students and families with community resources and services.
  • Maintain confidential records in compliance with regulations and school policies.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Social Worker with credentials applicable to school settings.
  • Experience working as a social worker in K-12 schools preferred.
  • Strong understanding of child development, mental health, and community resources.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to supporting diverse student populations and upholding confidentiality.
