Support the educational journey of K-12 students and foster positive change as a vital member of a dynamic school community. This contract position offers the chance to work closely with special education students, providing impactful intervention and support in both group and one-on-one settings. You'll engage students in their academic and social growth and work alongside educators, administrators, and families to create an environment where every child can thrive.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution
- Holds a fully licensed Social Work or MSW Limited License
- Valid LARA license required
- Must possess one of the following: Preliminary School Social Worker Certificate (PSSWC), Professional School Social Worker Certificate (PSWC), or School Social Worker Permit (SSWP)
- MDE School Social Worker Approval required
- Experience working in schools or with special education programs preferred
- Ability to provide official university transcripts during the application process
- Comfortable working onsite with K-12 students
Responsibilities:
- Assess, identify, and evaluate the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of special education students
- Design and implement effective behavior management plans and intervention strategies
- Collaborate with educators, administrators, and community partners to develop student support strategies
- Deliver individual and group counseling sessions to address students challenges
- Participate actively in IEP meetings, assessments, and conferences to ensure appropriate accommodations and services
- Support families in engaging with their childs education, including conducting home visits as needed
- Respond to crisis situations, reporting cases of child abuse or neglect as appropriate
