Job Description

A school-based social worker is needed for the upcoming school year in an elementary school setting located in Chicago, IL. This full-time, onsite contract position offers a 35-hour workweek supporting a diverse caseload of students across categories with Individualized Education Program (IEP) support and targeted interventions aimed at helping students overcome social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement service plans for special education students through individual, small group, and large group interventions addressing social-emotional and behavioral difficulties.
  • Provide short and long-term counseling services to general education students referred by parents who exhibit social, emotional, or behavioral needs.
  • Adapt instructional resources to effectively meet the diverse backgrounds and learning styles of students.
  • Collaborate with staff to establish and enhance Response to Intervention (RTI) strategies, providing recommendations tailored to student needs.
  • Facilitate positive social and emotional development directly linked to students learning experiences.

Qualifications:

  • Active Professional Educator License (PEL) in School Social Work.
  • Experience supporting students with IEPs and behavioral interventions in a school setting.
  • Ability to plan and provide evidence of individualized intervention strategies.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with educational staff and families.
