Position Overview
Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a dedicated and adaptable School Social Worker (SSW) to support an elementary student population in the Carlsbad area. This is a full-time contract position (37.5 hours per week) for the entire 2026/2027 academic school year, running from July 27, 2026, through May 28, 2027. While an on-site, in-person professional is preferred, the district is open to considering highly qualified virtual candidates as well.
This role is perfect for a student-centered professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and wants to provide critical foundational support to young learners, ensuring they have the personal, social, and emotional tools necessary to maximize their classroom experience.
Key Responsibilities
Provide students, parents, administrators, and teaching staff with individually tailored advice, counseling, and consultation.
Help students overcome personal, emotional, familial, or social challenges that impact their academic engagement and success.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary school teams to implement supportive interventions and foster a positive school climate.
Maintain accurate documentation and case notes in compliance with state regulations and district policies.
Qualifications
Active New Mexico (NM) School Social Worker License (LBSW, LMSW, or LCSW).
Prior experience working with elementary-aged student populations or within a school setting is highly preferred.
Strong crisis intervention, case management, and interpersonal communication skills.
For virtual consideration: Prior experience utilizing teletherapy or remote educational platforms.
