Job Description

A full-time Social Worker opportunity is available at an elementary school in Bloomington, IL, to provide essential support through a contract position covering maternity leave through January of the current school year.

This role focuses on delivering social work services in an educational setting, assisting students, families, and school staff to address social, emotional, and behavioral challenges that may impact learning and development. The successful candidate will work closely with educators and administration to promote a positive school climate and foster student well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide counseling and social work services to elementary students
  • Conduct assessments to identify student needs and develop intervention plans
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to support student success
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings, case conferences, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings
  • Maintain documentation and comply with school policies and confidentiality requirements
  • Facilitate crisis intervention and prevention programs

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Degree in Social Work (Bachelors or Masters preferred) with valid licensure or certification appropriate for school social work
  • Previous experience working in a school or child-centered setting
  • Knowledge of child development, behavioral health, and community resources
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage sensitive situations with professionalism
