Job Description

An opportunity is available for a skilled Speech Language Pathologist to support students in an elementary school setting in Norfolk, VA. This role involves working with a diverse group of students, particularly those presenting with severe behavior disorders. The position is focused on fostering communication skills in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Virginia Speech Language Pathologist license or pending license with activation expected by August.
  • Experience working with pediatric populations, particularly in school settings.
  • Strong background in managing behavior disorders and implementing effective strategies.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess and diagnose students' speech and language needs.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student.
  • Collaborate with support staff and educators to create a positive learning environment.
  • Provide direct therapy to students in both functional and inclusion settings.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions.
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities.
