Job Description

Seeking an experienced Sign Language Interpreter to support K-12 students in a full-time, in-person role within the Santa Barbara, CA area. This contract position offers the opportunity to work throughout the school year (CSY) in a dynamic educational environment dedicated to fostering inclusive communication for all learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and effective sign language interpretation services for students and staff during classroom instruction and school activities.
  • Facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and administrators.
  • Collaborate with educators and support personnel to ensure accessibility and support academic success.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards in all interactions.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) certification in California is required.
  • Proven experience interpreting in K-12 educational settings preferred.
  • Strong familiarity with educational terminology and the unique needs of school-aged children.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to professional development and continuous learning.

Location and Schedule:

  • Full-time, in-person position based near Santa Barbara, CA.
  • Contract duration spans the school year (CSY).
