This full-time, onsite contract assignment centers on providing individualized support to students who rely on sign language for effective learning and interaction. Working closely within a single school, your expertise will empower students to thrive academically and socially.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid EIPA score of 4.0
- Completion of CHSPE or NCLB requirements, including 48 units of higher education study, an AA degree, or a certificate from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID)
- Alternatively, certification at TEC unit level 4 from ACCI
- Proven skills in American Sign Language and experience interpreting in educational settings
- Strong commitment to fostering inclusive, accessible learning environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear, accurate sign language interpretation for students in one-on-one settings throughout the school day
- Facilitate effective communication between students, peers, and staff
- Adapt interpretation style to meet individual student needs and classroom activities
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure consistent access to curriculum and school resources
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards for educational interpreting
