Job Description

Step into a key role supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic school setting near Toney, AL! This full-time, onsite opportunity is perfect for dedicated professionals passionate about facilitating communication for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. As a valued interpreter, youll work 37.5 hours per week providing essential ASL interpretation and transliteration services that make a difference in students academic experiences.

Desired Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A current license or permit from the Alabama Licensure Board for Interpreters and Transliterators (ALBIT).
  • Previous experience working in educational settings as a Sign Language Interpreter is highly desirable.
  • Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with students, teachers, and support staff.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver accurate and effective interpretation between students, educators, and staff using ASL.
  • Facilitate classroom participation and engagement for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
  • Support individualized education program (IEP) goals as part of the educational team.
  • Assist in fostering an inclusive and accessible learning environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards as outlined by ALBIT.
