Job Description
An onsite opportunity is available in Toney, AL for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide full-time interpreting services (37.5 hours per week) in a school setting. The primary responsibility is to facilitate communication for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students by interpreting American Sign Language (ASL) effectively and accurately.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver interpreting services between ASL and spoken English for students requiring communication support
- Support students access to educational content and facilitate classroom communication
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to enhance learning environment accessibility
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current license or permit issued by the Alabama Licensure Board for Interpreters and Transliterators (ALBIT)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and interpreting techniques suitable for K-12 educational settings
