Job Description

Located in Toccoa, GA, this role offers a unique opportunity to provide essential communication support within a K-12 school environment. The position spans the academic year, serving students who are deaf or hard of hearing through onsite Sign Language Interpreting services.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Georgia Sign Language Interpreter License or Credentials
  • Proven experience in K-12 educational settings
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students
  • Knowledge of educational practices and adaptations for students with hearing impairments

Location:

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality interpreting services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in the classroom and other school settings
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure effective communication and accessibility
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, professional development, and relevant IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings
  • Facilitate a positive and inclusive learning environment through responsive interpreting practices
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and records as required by school policies
  • Support students social and emotional development related to their communication needs
