Job Description

A rewarding opportunity awaits highly skilled sign language interpreters in the educational setting for the 2026-2027 school year. Working in a supportive school environment, youll provide crucial 1:1 sign language interpretation support to a high school student during regular school hours, Monday through Friday, from 9am to 2pm.

This contract-based position is designed for interpreters who have strong communication skills, professionalism, and a passion for making meaningful connections with students. As a dedicated facilitator, youll enable a students full participation in learning, social interaction, and school activities.

Whats Needed:

  • Valid EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (required)
  • Previous experience as a sign language interpreter in schools or with high school-aged individuals
  • Excellent ASL proficiency and the ability to adapt interpreting styles to individual needs
  • Professionalism, punctuality, and reliability for a consistent weekday schedule
  • Ability to establish rapport and effectively collaborate with educators and students

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver clear, accurate American Sign Language interpretation for a high school student in both classroom and campus settings
  • Support effective communication between the student, peers, teachers, and staff
  • Ensure confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in educational interpreting
  • Collaborate with education staff to facilitate classroom access and student engagement
  • Participate in necessary meetings and training sessions to support the students learning plan
