Job Description

This position seeks a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support middle school students in Tacoma, WA. The role is a contract assignment running from ASAP through June 16, 2026, providing 35 hours of onsite work per week. Candidates must be licensed as a Washington Teacher of the Visually Impaired (WA TVI) with an Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher to qualify.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa for middle school students.
  • Facilitate effective communication in classroom settings and school activities.
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to enhance student learning.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards.

Qualifications:

  • Valid WA TVI license.
  • EIPA certification with a minimum score of 3.5.
  • Experience working in an educational environment, preferably with middle school students.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Location and Schedule:

  • Position based onsite at a middle school in Tacoma, WA.
  • Full-time hours with 35 hours per week (6.5 paid hours / 7.0 scheduled hours daily).
