Qualifications & Credentials:
- Valid EIPA score of 3.5 or higher, as required in Georgia
- GAPSC certification (Georgia Professional Standards Commission)
- Proven experience as a sign language interpreter in school or educational environments
- Deep understanding of American Sign Language (ASL), Deaf culture, and educational interpreting practices
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with students, staff, and families
- Ability to adapt to varying classroom settings and student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear communication between students and staff using ASL in classroom and school activities
- Interpret a range of content including lessons, discussions, and extracurricular events for K-12 students
- Partner with teachers to ensure that instructional materials and classroom participation are accessible
- Maintain a high standard of professionalism and confidentiality
- Monitor student progress and collaborate on adjustments to service delivery as needed
