Requirements for success in this role:
- Completion of the Oklahoma Quality Assurance Screening Test (QAST)
- Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification
- Training and Assessment Systems for K-12 Educational Interpreters (TASK 12) credentials
- Experience as an educational interpreter, preferably at the high school level
- Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and professionalism
- Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering clear and effective sign language interpretation between students and staff in the classroom and school environment
- Facilitating understanding and engagement for one high school student across all academic subjects and school activities
- Collaborating with educators and support staff to address the students unique communication needs
- Maintaining detailed records relevant to services provided and student progress
- Upholding best practices and professional standards within educational interpreting
