Job Description
Located in Mount Prospect, IL, this full-time travel position offers the opportunity to provide dedicated support as a 1:1 Sign Language Interpreter for a student with unique communication and visual needs. The role requires a collaborative approach with the educational team to promote effective visual access and language acquisition for a student who is deaf and has an additional visual impairment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the educational team to implement strategies that enhance the student's visual access to instruction
- Provide consistent language modeling in American Sign Language (ASL) to support a student who is relatively new to ASL
- Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, and peers
- Adapt interpreting strategies to meet the evolving needs of the student for full inclusion and learning participation
Qualifications:
- Required credentials and certifications in Sign Language Interpreting
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, particularly those also experiencing visual impairments
- Ability to collaborate effectively with educators and specialists
- Strong ASL skills with a focus on language modeling for emerging users
Job Details:
- Full-time, 5 days per week

- Travel assignment based in Mount Prospect, IL
