Job Description

A position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support an elementary school student within a contract role lasting through the current school year. This opportunity is located in Mesa, Washington, serving a single student caseload in an elementary setting. The position begins as soon as possible and concludes on June 11, 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality sign language interpretation services to an elementary-aged student in a school environment
  • Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, and peers to support full participation in classroom activities
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional standards in accordance with district policies
  • Collaborate with school staff to meet individual student needs and support a positive learning experience

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 4.0 or higher is required
  • Previous experience interpreting in educational settings preferred
  • Knowledge of elementary educational terminology and classroom procedures
  • Ability to work independently within a small caseload
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Availability to work 6.5 hours per day, 5 days per week

Location and Schedule:

  • Position based in Mesa, WA
  • Contract duration: from ASAP through June 11, 2026
  • Approximately 32.5 hours per week

Additional Information:

  • Interview format will be conducted remotely via Zoom with a panel interview
  • The district requires standard onboarding procedures, including background checks and fingerprinting prior to start
  • No on-site supervision will be provided; contractor will work independently with the assigned student
  • Training opportunities may be available through the district
