Job Description

This contract position offers a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week. You will be tasked with providing accurate and effective interpreting services using American Sign Language (ASL), supporting students throughout their daily academic activities, and ensuring access to classroom instruction and school events.

Key Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Active license or permit issued by the Alabama Licensure Board for Interpreters and Transliterators (ALBIT)
  • In-depth knowledge of ASL and professional interpreting standards
  • Commitment to confidentiality and cultural sensitivity
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver ASL interpreting for students in classroom settings and various school activities
  • Maintain professionalism while facilitating communication between teachers, staff, and Deaf or Hard of Hearing students
  • Adapt interpreting style and pacing to meet diverse student needs and educational goals
