Looking to hire a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) for a job near Machesney Park, IL for the upcoming school year. This full-time job will require the American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to work 30-35 hours per week, providing interpreting services for the DHH population. Duties include facilitation of communication within all educational environments, participation in team meetings and collaboration with the Deaf/HH team.

Sign Language Interpretation Job Requirements:

• EIPA of 3.5 or above (Certain RID scores are also accepted)
  • Will consider candidates with an interim certification
•  ISBE Approval as an Educational Interpreter
• Full-time availability
• Highly motivated, student focused educational interpreter
• Patient, positive with students

Sign Language Interpreter Job Skills:

• Facilitate communication for students with  hearing impairments
•  Provide a visual language, interpretation of auditory communication for the students
• Be a language model for the students
• Interpretation may occur in a variety of settings beyond the classroom including, but not limited to, field trips, after school programs, assemblies, and other school sponsored events
• Other duties may be performed when they do not interfere with interpreting including, but not limited to, academic and/ or behavioral support, participation in meetings, and being an active member of the school’s educational team
