Job Description

This opportunity is for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support a middle school student in an educational setting in Lillington, NC. The role involves providing 1:1 interpreting services onsite at a middle school, fostering effective communication and inclusion for a student who relies on American Sign Language (ASL).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and effective ASL interpretation during all school-related activities
  • Facilitate communication between the student, educators, and peers
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of interpreting in an educational environment
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to support the student's academic and social needs

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active Interpreter certification or a minimum EIPA score of 3.5 (applicants with slightly lower scores will be considered)
  • Proven experience interpreting in school settings, ideally with middle school students
  • Strong command of ASL and cultural competence
  • Ability to work 37.5 hours per week onsite, engaging directly with the student and school staff
  • Commitment to professional conduct and ongoing development as an interpreter

Location: Lillington, NC
