Job Description

Located in Lakewood, WA, this opportunity is for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter serving a kindergarten caseload in an elementary school setting. This full-time, contract position runs from ASAP through June 10, 2026, providing 6.5 hours per day (32.5 hours per week) onsite during the school year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their teachers and peers using sign language interpreting skills.
  • Support academic access and participation by accurately interpreting educational content in a classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure inclusive and supportive learning experiences.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.

Qualifications:

  • Valid State / Discipline license with an EIPA Performance Score of 4.0 or higher.
  • Successful completion of the EIPA Written Test or a combination of the RID certification and the EIPA Written Test.
  • Experience interpreting in educational settings, preferably elementary school level.
  • Strong knowledge of sign language and cultural competency in Deaf education.
