Job Description

An opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support students for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year in a dynamic K-12 educational environment located in Kent, WA. This full-time position requires a dedicated professional to facilitate effective communication for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students, ensuring their full participation in the classroom.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) certification with a minimum score of 4.0.
  • Passing score on the EIPA written test or possess National Interpreter Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID).
  • Previous experience working in school settings is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with educators and staff.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to professional standards and ethical practices in interpreting.

Location:

Responsibilities:

  • Provide interpretation services for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students in classroom settings.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to support students educational goals.
  • Prepare for assignments by reviewing lesson plans and discussing interpretation needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of services provided and monitor student progress.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities as required.
