Job Description

This contract opportunity centers on working closely with students and staff to facilitate clear, effective interaction in the classroom. Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (will consider candidates with a provisional license and EIPA under 4.0)
  • Prior experience supporting elementary-age students is ideal
  • Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Clear communication and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism
  • Flexibility to work standard school hours (7:45 am3:15 pm) or afternoons only (11:00 am3:15 pm)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interpret spoken and signed communication between faculty, staff, and elementary students
  • Support student participation and engagement in academic and extracurricular activities
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to promote effective communication strategies
  • Adhere to educational and ethical standards for interpretation in school settings
  • Provide ongoing feedback to educational teams regarding communication needs and progress
