Job Description

A full-time Sign Language Interpreter position is available to provide dedicated one-on-one support to a high school student. This contract role is onsite in Hampton, VA, with a school-year (CSY) duration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate effective communication by interpreting sign language during academic activities and interactions
  • Support the student in both classroom and related school settings, ensuring accessibility and comprehension
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to enhance the student's learning experience

Qualifications:

  • Valid Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III certification; OR
  • Passing scores on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) Written Test combined with a minimum of Level 3.5 on the EIPA Performance Test; OR
  • Equivalent state qualification or national certification recognized by the Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (VDDHH), excluding the Certificate of Deaf Interpretation
  • Professional experience in educational settings, demonstrating the ability to work effectively with students

Location:

  • Onsite assignment in Hampton, VA (Yorktown area)
