Job Description
Provide specialized communication support as a Sign Language Interpreter working directly with a middle school student to facilitate effective learning and interaction within the classroom setting. This onsite contract position requires dedication to clear and accurate interpretation to support the student's educational experience.
Location: Lillington, NC (Onsite only)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Position: 1:1 assignment with a middle school student
School Setting: Middle school environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-on-one American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation services to a middle school student
- Ensure accurate and effective communication between the student, teachers, and peers
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
- Collaborate with educational staff to support the students learning goals
Desired Qualifications:
- Active Interpreter certification or a minimum Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5; candidates with a lower EIPA score may be considered
- Proven experience interpreting in educational settings, preferably with middle school-aged students
- Strong understanding of ASL and deaf culture
- Ability to work onsite consistently and maintain a professional and supportive presence
