Step into a rewarding role as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting a high school student throughout the 26/27 academic year. This contract position is onsite, offers a consistent schedule of 37.5 hours per week (8:00 AM 3:30 PM), and is located conveniently near Frederick, MD. You'll make a meaningful impact by facilitating clear communication and inclusive learning experiences within a dynamic school environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Current educator certification required
- Minimum score of 75% on the EIPA written assessment
- EIPA performance score of 4.0 or above or an active NIC credential from RID
- Experience working in educational settings as a Sign Language Interpreter preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect effectively with students and staff
- Professional commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate, impartial sign language interpretation in a high school environment
- Foster access to the curriculum and school activities for a male high school student
- Collaborate with educators to support the students academic and social participation
- Adjust interpretation methods as needed for various settings, including classrooms, assemblies, and extracurriculars
- Maintain detailed records adhering to school and professional guidelines
- Serve as a communication bridge, ensuring the students full engagement in all aspects of school life
