A full-time Sign Language Interpreter position is available within an elementary school setting near Elgin, IL. This contract role offers the opportunity to work onsite throughout the school year, supporting students and staff by facilitating effective communication.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa, ensuring accurate and clear communication for students and educators
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to promote an inclusive learning environment
• Assist in classroom activities, meetings, and other school functions as needed
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid Interpreter Certificate such as BEI, EIPA, NIC, or RID
• Approval from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) as an interpreter
• Experience working in elementary education settings preferred
• Strong understanding of sign language interpreting protocols and ethics
