Job Description

Make a meaningful difference supporting young learners as a Sign Language Interpreter in a welcoming elementary school environment. This contract role centers around working directly with elementary students to facilitate communication and ensure access to educational content for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Starting in mid-August 2026 and continuing through the end of the school year in May 2027, youll play an essential part in a vibrant, inclusive community. Enjoy onsite work, collaborating with a dedicated team of educators and supporting students growth every day. The regular schedule is 7:45am3:15pm, with the added flexibility of afternoon-only hours (11:00am3:15pm) for those who prefer a part-day schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, especially in school settings
  • Eligible for state interpreter licensure; provisional licenses are welcomed if EIPA score is under 4.0
  • Ability to engage with and support elementary-age learners
  • Commitment to professionalism, dependability, and strong collaboration
  • Enthusiasm for fostering access in an educational context

  • Partner with classroom teachers and special education staff
  • Enhance students participation and engagement through clear, accurate interpreting
