Job Description
Empower students in an educational setting by utilizing your skills as a Sign Language Interpreter! This full-time contract opportunity is for the 2026/2027 school year and takes place at a single assigned school within a supportive district close to Citrus Heights, CA. Youll play a vital role in fostering communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing, their peers, and educational staff.
What You'll Do:
- Provide on-site interpretation services within a classroom, typically supporting one or two students per assignment
- Accurately interpret classroom instruction, peer interactions, and extracurricular activities
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to facilitate inclusion and access
- Adapt interpreting techniques to match student age and communication style
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all student information and classroom proceedings
- Participate in ongoing communication and check-ins with the educational team
Preferred Qualifications:
- RID Certification or an EIPA score of 4.0 or higher (highly preferred; other qualified interpreters will be considered)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and a deep understanding of Deaf culture
- Experience in an educational environment, especially with K-12 students, is beneficial
- Strong adaptability and ability to engage in dynamic classroom settings
- Ability to work independently with reliability and professionalism
