Job Description

A full-time Sign Language Interpreter is needed to support K-12 students in a Southwest Vermont school district. This contract position runs from ASAP through mid-June, providing critical communication assistance to a kindergarten and a third-grade student. The role is based in Shaftsbury, VT, with work hours typically from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM during the school week.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their teachers and peers
  • Providing interpretation services during classroom instruction and related school activities
  • Collaborating with school staff and support personnel to ensure accessibility and inclusion
  • Adhering to professional standards and district guidelines throughout the assignment

Desired qualifications and experience:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpretation skills appropriate for K-12 educational settings
  • Open to both certified and non-certified candidates demonstrating strong communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Experience or willingness to engage in district-provided training and onboarding processes
