Providing skilled sign language interpretation for middle school students is essential for effective communication and inclusion in educational settings. This opportunity focuses on delivering one-on-one language support to a middle school student, requiring expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation.
Location:
- Apex, NC (onsite at a middle school)
Position Details:
- Role: Sign Language Interpreter for a middle school student
- Setting: Middle School environment
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week
- Duration: Contract for the current school year (CSY)
- Onsite requirement: Must be available to work onsite only
- Number of openings: 1
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one sign language interpreting services for a middle school student, facilitating communication between the student and educational staff
- Ensure accurate and effective interpretation to support the students academic and social needs
- Maintain professional standards and confidentiality in all interactions
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to enhance the learning environment for the student
Qualifications:
- Active certification as a Sign Language Interpreter or a minimum EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.5 (candidates with lower scores may be considered)
- Proven experience interpreting in educational settings, preferably with middle school students
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills tailored to a school environment
- Ability to work diligently and engage positively on site during school hours
