Your key qualifications:

• Hold a current NM PED license for Sign Language Interpretation
• Experience interpreting in K-12 educational settings, preferably with middle school-aged students
• Strong knowledge of ASL and nuanced understanding of interpreting ethics and confidentiality
• Capacity for effective collaboration with classroom staff, special education teams, and caregivers
• Professional demeanor and adaptability for virtual interviews with district personnel
• Willingness to complete a background check before starting

Role responsibilities:

• Provide real-time sign language interpretation for a middle school student during classroom instruction, activities, and school events
• Foster accessible communication between staff, peers, and the student
• Support the students participation by bridging language and cultural differences
• Liaise with faculty and staff to anticipate and meet communication needs
• Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold district policies
• Complete school-specific onboarding as requested
