Job Description

A full-time nursing leadership opportunity is available within a K-12 public school district in East Orange, NJ. This contract position spans the current school year and involves serving as a Head Nurse and Registered Nurse (RN) team members supporting multiple school sites.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Serving as Head Nurse with a certified RN, BSN or MSN degree and leadership experience. This role will oversee Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and school nurses across district locations and contribute to policy and procedure development.
  • Two RN/BSN/MSN nurses will be assigned to individual schools to provide direct nursing care and support to students in the K-12 age group.
  • Collaborating with school staff to ensure student health needs are met without on-site supervision by aides or nursing assistants.

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license with BSN or MSN degree required.
  • Certification as a School Nurse (CSN) is preferred or must be obtained for some roles.
  • Leadership experience for the Head Nurse position overseeing multiple nursing staff.
  • Previous experience in school nursing or pediatric nursing is highly desirable.
