Are you a passionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) looking to make a meaningful impact on a student's educational journey? We are seeking an experienced and collaborative professional to support a student who is a Braille user in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area. This is a unique opportunity to partner with a dedicated school team to provide specialized instruction, consultation, and guidance that will help a student thrive both academically and independently.

The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in Braille instruction, assistive technology, orientation and mobility collaboration, and consultation with school staff. Experience supporting students who rely on Braille in inclusive classroom settings is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction to a student with a visual impairment in accordance with their IEP, including Braille literacy, assistive technology, and access to classroom instruction.
• Prepare, adapt, and transcribe educational materials into Braille to ensure timely access to curriculum and classroom activities.
• Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to implement accommodations and support student success.
• Consult with school staff on best practices for supporting a student who uses Braille in the general education environment.
• Assist with orientation and mobility goals in collaboration with the Orientation & Mobility (O&M) specialist and school team.
• Monitor student progress, maintain documentation, and participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions.
• Provide ongoing coaching and training to staff regarding Braille, adaptive equipment, classroom accessibility, and instructional strategies.
• Help create an inclusive learning environment that promotes independence, confidence, and academic achievement.

Qualifications

• Valid Minnesota Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license or eligibility for licensure.
• Certification or endorsement as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments required.
• Proficiency in Braille reading, writing, and instructional techniques.
• Experience preparing Braille materials and supporting students who utilize Braille technology.
• Knowledge of assistive technology, accessibility tools, and best practices for students with visual impairments.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and consultation skills with multidisciplinary teams.

Compensation for this position ranges from $17.00 to $58.00. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals.
