Job Description
Make an impact supporting early learners as a Reading Specialist for a contract position serving PreK2 students. As a key educator in the library media setting, youll collaborate with teachers and staff to foster a love of reading while addressing diverse literacy needs within a dynamic, supportive school environment.
This full-time, onsite role is dedicated to K2 library and learning support, running from August 17 through May 27, 2027. Youll take on responsibilities specific to these foundational grade levels, ensuring students build strong literacy skills from the start.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Education or a related field
- Illinois Professional Educator License with the relevant endorsement(s)
- Proven knowledge of curriculum design and instructional practices
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working with early learners in literacy-focused roles
- Passion for encouraging literacy growth in young children
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct reading support and differentiated instruction to K2 students
- Plan and implement engaging library and media programs tailored to grade-level needs
- Work with classroom teachers to integrate literacy strategies throughout the school day
- Assess student progress and deliver targeted interventions for struggling readers
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive space in the library/media center
- Engage students in programs that promote lifelong literacy and a love of reading
