Step into a rewarding contract role where you can inspire young learners as a Reading Specialist focusing on early elementary education. This position centers on providing library media and reading support to students in Pre-K through 2nd grade, helping to shape their educational journey from the very start. Located onsite, you'll work collaboratively within a school library environment and deliver targeted instruction tailored to the unique needs of each grade level.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Education or related field required
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with appropriate endorsements for Reading or Library Media
- Demonstrated understanding of curriculum design and effective instructional practices
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential
- Experience supporting literacy development in early childhood or elementary settings a plus
Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging reading instruction and literacy interventions to K-2 students in the library setting
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate literacy best practices into daily instruction
- Curate age-appropriate library collections and provide guidance on research and reading skills
- Assess student progress and tailor support plans to enhance reading development
- Facilitate library media lessons and encourage a lifelong love of reading among students
- Participate in school-wide literacy initiatives and professional development
